🌸 Spring Is the Real New Year (Here’s Why You’ve Been Starting Fresh at the Wrong Time) 🌸

Why It’s Time to Rewrite the Calendar and Reclaim Your Resolutions

Let’s be real: January 1st is not the true beginning of anything—except maybe credit card debt from the holidays and a hangover from New Year's Eve. The actual New Year—in spirit, in nature, in energy—is SPRING.

I’m not just saying this as a writer and wellness coach with a hot cup of herbal tea in one hand and a seed catalog in the other. I’m saying this as someone who feels the shift in her bones, channels cosmic wisdom, and watches the flowers and animals reveal the truth: Spring is when life actually begins again.

🌱 Nature Doesn’t Lie: The Awakening of Spring

Let’s look around. The trees are budding. The birds are back and singing their hearts out. The bees are buzzing. The animals are literally crawling out of hibernation.

Meanwhile, you may feel that tug to open your windows, clean out your closet, try a new smoothie, maybe even fall in love again. That’s not random. That’s life force reactivating.

In Chinese Medicine and many ancient cultures, spring is associated with the Liver—the organ of growth, detox, and forward movement. That’s why you feel this itch to refresh, move your body, and start something new. It’s encoded in your biology and your soul.

So why have we been told that the year starts in January, the middle of winter when everything’s asleep?

🤡 April Fools’ Day: A Hidden Truth?

Let’s go there. Why is April 1st called April Fools’ Day?

Well, way before the Gregorian calendar we use today, many civilizations celebrated the start of the new year around the Spring Equinox, in late March—when daylight balances darkness and the sun begins to rise higher in the sky.

When Pope Gregory XIII introduced the Gregorian calendar in 1582, it shifted the New Year to January 1st. But many people didn’t get the memo right away (because, you know, there was no group chat back then). Those who continued celebrating the New Year in spring were mocked as “April fools.”

That’s right: April Fools’ Day was born out of mocking people who remembered the real rhythm of life.

Joke’s on them though—because the Earth never stopped knowing what time it was. Neither did your intuition.

🔮 The Astrological New Year: 13 Signs & Cosmic Clarity

And let’s not forget: Aries season begins around the Spring Equinox. Aries is the first sign of the zodiac, the initiator, the spark. That’s when the astrological wheel truly resets.

Also, plot twist: there are actually 13 constellations in the sky that the sun passes through—not just 12. The "12-sign" zodiac system is simplified and symbolic, but in sidereal astrology and astronomy, the sky doesn’t lie. The missing one? Ophiuchus, the serpent bearer, often associated with healing and transformation.

So if you’ve ever felt like the calendar—or your horoscope—was slightly off… your psychic senses weren’t wrong.

✨ Resolutions Are Spring Cleaning for the Soul

Now, let’s tie it back to something we all do: New Year’s Resolutions.

Most people set these ambitious goals in January while freezing, bloated, tired, and sun-deprived. No wonder 80% of them fail by February.

But spring? Spring is where resolutions actually make sense. You’ve rested. You’ve reflected. You’ve cleared the emotional cobwebs. You’re finally ready to move, grow, and shed the layers.

Think of it this way: Resolutions are just soul-level “spring cleaning.” You’re letting go of what’s heavy. You’re choosing something lighter. You’re planting new habits. You’re watering new dreams. Just like nature.

🕊 Easter, Resurrection, and the Power of Rebirth

Let’s also zoom in on Easter, the holiday of resurrection. It doesn’t land in the dead of winter—it blooms in the light of spring.

Spiritually, Easter commemorates Jesus’s resurrection, his triumph over death, and his ascension into a higher frequency of love and light. But before that resurrection came Lent—a season of sacrifice, release, and reflection.

Sound familiar?

That’s right: even Easter follows the rhythm of give something up → go within → rise again.

It’s the same arc as a powerful spring resolution. You let go. You cleanse. You rise.

That’s how rebirth works. In spirit, in nature, and in you.

🌼 Realign with the True New Year

So this spring, you can forget about what happened in January and instead align with the truth and embrace a fresh start. The Earth is speaking to you. Your body is speaking to you. Your spirit is remembering:

🌸 Now is the time to begin again.

💫 Set your goals.

🧹 Clean your home and your habits.

🌞 Breathe in the light.

🔥 And rise like the phoenix you are.

Happy Real New Year. You’re not an April Fool. You’re in tune with something ancient, magical, and real.

XO,

Coach Corey
